Thank you for visiting my website!  I am a multi-faceted artist with a particular passion for botanical art. Attempting to capture the intense intricacy and beauty of plant life allows me to combine my love of minute and meticulous detail with my favorite pursuit: exploring the nuances of color achieved through glazing and layering.

As an artist, I delight in playing and experimenting with color, pattern, and imagery in any medium.  I divide my studio time between a serious pursuit of the creation of botanical fine art, in either watercolor or oil paints, and a playful exploration of collage, paper craft, book binding, whimsical abstract creations, and even crayon.  Maintaining a balance of these two pursuits helps me to stay loose and relaxed even while engaging in exacting and meticulous work.  Botanical art keeps me grounded in the scientific, natural world, while collage and other “art play” lets me indulge my emotion and imagination.

I have always maintained my passion for creating art while pursuing other avenues.  With a master’s degree in International Relations, I worked in the federal government and in environmental advocacy for several years before turning my attention fully to painting.  I am a member of both the Botanical Art Society of the National Capitol Region and the American Society of Botanical Artists.  I have exhibited work at Brookside Gardens in Wheaton, MD, Green Springs Gardens in Fairfax, VA, and the Jefferson Library at Monticello.  I live in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington, D.C. with my husband and two children.
